Michail Antonio explains why he doesn't want Liverpool to win the Premier League and tells fans to 'get lost'

He doesn't want them to win.

Michail Antonio has explained why he does not want Liverpool to win the Premier League.

The West Ham star’s sentiment stems from being mocked by Liverpool supporters earlier this season for insisting his side would finish above the Merseyside club.

The Reds went on to dispatch Antonio’s Hammers 3-1, with the forward squandering a good chance early on, while Jurgen Klopp’s side are currently top the Premier League standings, with West Ham sixth.

Antonio claimed that four months after his comments he continues to receive messages from Liverpool fans on social media.

In turn, Antonio stressed that he does not want Liverpool to win the league.

Speaking on the Footballers' Football podcast, Antonio admitted: "I don't want Liverpool to win the league because you Liverpool fans are still in my inbox.

“Get lost! I'm saying it with [my] chest. I don't want Liverpool to win the league! Come for me! Arsenal get it. Man City, get it. That's all I have to say about that!"

Antonio has insisted he was encouraged by West Ham’s performance against Liverpool despite David Moyes’ men now some 11 points adrift of the Merseyside club.

Back in September, Antonio said: “I am backing myself over Liverpool.

“You know what, I think we are going to finish higher than Liverpool this season. I'm putting it out there.

“I watched the game [Wolves vs Liverpool] because it was before our game and Wolves could have run away with it! They had quite a few opportunities. We've got them this weekend and it's a six-pointer. We've got them!”

Liverpool don’t return to action until their trip to Bournemouth next Saturday. The club are on course to claim their second title in the Jurgen Klopp era as they post a points advantage over Aston Villa, Manchester City and Arsenal.
