Liverpool fans furious after star player admits he's already thinking about his next move

Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has named the league he wants to experience in the future - and Reds fans aren't happy.

Mac Allister signed for the Reds from Brighton in the summer of 2023, with Jurgen Klopp having been keen to make the Argentinian his first summer signing.

The 2022 World Cup winner was part of a midfield rebuild in that particular summer, and he has since become a key player under Klopp and new manager Arne Slot.

Mac Allister's absence would have been felt in Saturday's Merseyside derby against Everton after he picked up a one-match suspension for yellow cards, but the postponement of that match means he will serve it on Saturday against Fulham instead.

The midfielder, who turns 26 this month, is a player that Slot will hope to build around for a number of years to come, and he still has three-and-a-half years left on the contract he originally signed last year.

But Mac Allister has now admitted that, although he is 'very comfortable' at Liverpool, he is thinking about life after the club - potentially in La Liga.

He told Spanish outlet AS: "Yes, why not [play in La Liga]? It is a country that I really like, and I have visited it several times. And, above all, because of the language and culture, it is very similar to Argentina.

"Without a doubt, I would like to play in Spain one day. But today I am very comfortable at Liverpool."

Although Mac Allister's career will likely have at least a decade still to run - and it almost certainly won't be fully spent at Liverpool - fans aren't particularly happy with the public admission that he is thinking about his future steps.

One said: "Why can't they just say right now I'm only thinking of Liverpool. Let's see what happens in the future."

Another wrote: "Wrong move Mac. Poor from him."

A third added: "Just say that you're only focused on Liverpool! Totally unnecessary to say that."

And a fourth stated: "I don't like this."

Others, though, were less concerned about the comments: "No bother. Ideally, I'd renew his contract but three years left after this season. We're all good."

And a second said: "Can't knock him for being honest."
