BREAKING: VAR officials Darren England and Dan Cook DROPPED after Tottenham vs Liverpool

Two VAR officials for Tottenham's win over Liverpool have been dropped by the PGMOL, it has been claimed.

VAR was at the centre of the drama once again at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, after they controversially upgraded Curtis Jones' yellow card to a red in the first half.

Moments later, VAR were required to take a look at Luis Diaz's goal, immediately ruling it offside despite not drawing any of the usual lines fans have become accustomed to seeing.

An expert has since explained that it was a miscommunication between VAR and referee Simon Hooper, with the PGMOL subsequently admitting the decision to disallow the goal was incorrect.

And the Premier League have now taken action against those responsible, dropping both Darren England, who was in charge of VAR at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, and Dan Cook, who was assistant for the same game.

That's according to Paul Joyce of The Times, who claimed that both men have been replaced for Nottingham Forest vs Brentford and Fulham vs Chelsea today and tomorrow night.

In an official statement on Sunday, the PGMOL confirmed a "significant human error" was responsible for the decision to disallow Diaz's goal.

It read: "PGMOL acknowledge a significant human error occurred during the first half of Tottenham Hotspur v Liverpool," they said in a statement.

"The goal by Luis Diaz was disallowed for offside by the on-field team of match officials. This was a clear and obvious factual error and should have resulted in the goal being awarded through VAR intervention, however, the VAR failed to intervene.

"PGMOL will conduct a full review into the circumstances which led to the error.

"PGMOL will immediately be contacting Liverpool at the conclusion of the fixture to acknowledge the error."
