Liverpool have dream Jurgen Klopp replacement lined up as secret contract clause revealed

Jurgen Klopp has announced his decision to leave Liverpool at the end of the 23/24 season

Liverpool could have a dream replacement for Jurgen Klopp lined up due to a secret contract clause.

On Friday morning, the football world was stunned by the news that Klopp will depart Liverpool at the end of the current campaign.

On their official website, Liverpool said: “Jürgen Klopp has announced his decision to step down as Liverpool manager at the end of the current season, having informed the club’s ownership of his wish to leave his position when the 2023-24 campaign comes to a close.”

Ahead of the summer, Liverpool will now be working around the clock to find a replacement for a manager who won the club their first Premier League title in 2020.

However, Liverpool could already have a dream replacement lined up.

Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso reportedly has a clause in his contract which will allow him to leave the club for Liverpool, Real Madrid or Bayern Munich.

According to German news outlet BILD, the clause of the contract will be active in the summer of 2024.

Alonso was appointed Leverkusen boss back in October 2022.

Speaking about his shock announcement, Klopp said: “I can understand that it’s a shock for a lot of people in this moment, when you hear it for the first time, but obviously I can explain it – or at least try to explain it.

“It is that I am, how can I say it, running out of energy. I have no problem now, obviously, I knew it already for longer that I will have to announce it at one point, but I am absolutely fine now. I know that I cannot do the job again and again and again and again.”
