Darwin Nunez has been on the receiving end of a touching tribute from Liverpool's social media team amid ongoing speculation about his Reds future.
Liverpool have already landed some big punches in the summer transfer window, bringing in Bayer Leverkusen duo Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz and reportedly getting closer to a deal for Bournemouth full-back Milos Kerkez.
But signing some players means selling others and Nunez is widely reported to be a possible departure along with the likes of Luis Diaz, Jarell Quansah and Harvey Elliott.

The Reds posted a rather lovely thread of pictures of the Uruguayan striker on X, formerly Twitter, on Tuesday. Some of the Liverpool fans who responded to the posts seem convinced that the club was dropping a hint about his future. In other words, they're saying goodbye.
Tuesday happened to be Nunez's birthday but the sleuths of social media were undeterred.
"He’s definitely on his way out isn’t he," noted one fan, while another announced: "Football without Nunez is nothing."

"Soft launching his goodbye?" asked a fan on X.
"Guess he’s staying," guessed another.
There's no convincing suggestion that the thread was anything more than an acknowledgement of Nunez's birthday but, if he does leave this summer, it seems he'll go with the blessing of a fanbase that holds him in some regard but recognises the need for an upgrade.
The 26-year-old has scored 40 goals in 143 appearances for Liverpool in a team that won the Reds' second title of the Premier League era.

"Thanks for what you gave to the team," said a fan. "We wish you success in your new club."
But it's not all love for the big man, whose new club could, if reports are accurate, be Italian champions Napoli.
Antonio Conte was able to rely on the goals of Scott McTominay in 2024-25 but top goalscorer Romelu Lukaku was the only striker to produce a noteworthy return.

"In years to come, this will be remembered as the absolute worst striker to play for Liverpool, absolutely terrible," read one review.
"Yeah he is gone folks, celebration time," posted another fan.
"Plz leave you utter disaster," added one charmer.
"Daylight robbery at its finest. Go con another team," wrote another.
