Ben Doak’s highlights vs Darmstadt have gone viral, Liverpool have found their Mo Salah replacement

Ben Doak has impressed during Liverpool’s pre-season

Liverpool may have found themselves a new star after Ben Doak’s impressive cameo against Darmstadt.

On Monday evening, Liverpool rounded off their pre-season with a 3-1 win over German Bundesliga side Darmstadt.

Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz were on the scoresheet for Jurgen Klopp’s men whilst Mathias Honsak scored for the German side.

However, it was Doak who impressed after he came on for Salah in the 60th minute.

The 17-year-old was direct in his play as he took on his defender at every given opportunity.

Doak’s low centre of gravity was matched with lightning speed as he managed to create a few chances for his teammates during what was a very impressive performance.

On the back of his display, a compilation of his highlights was posted on social media.

After the match, Doak wrote on Instagram: “Nice end to pre-season. Real work begins soon.”

Klopp has been full of praise for Doak and other youngsters since the start of pre-season as he continues to give opportunities for the young stars to impress ahead of the start of the 23/24 campaign.

The German said after Liverpool’s 4-2 win over Karlsruher: “We saw the kids how good they were. James never played a six before and today he played there and it was so nice to watch, to be honest. Bobby first half did really well.

“Ben Doak, oh my God, it’s much fun to watch these kids. Calum I’ve known him only nine days, he was injured before and now he was there. Koumas came on, Conor Bradley really good.”

Klopp added: “The kids are really good and the others are really good already, we know that. Some of them might need to get through little holes here and then now because it’s really tough for them of course.”

Liverpool will kick off their 23/24 Premier League campaign against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
