Liverpool fans have made their mind up about one player after their 3-1 Champions League win over AC Milan.

The Reds travelled to San Siro for their opening match of the new Champions League format, and will return to Merseyside with three points.

It was a nightmare start for Arne Slot's side when Christian Pulisic gave Milan a third-minute lead.

The goal saw an ex-Chelsea pairing combine, with former Blues striker Alvaro Morata providing the assist.

But Liverpool hit back on 23 minutes through Ibrahima Konate, before Virgil van Dijk also headed home from a corner unmarked to give the Reds the advantage.

It was an advantage that they continued to hold until 67 minutes, when Dominik Szoboszlai slotted in from close range to make it 3-1.

But Reds fans picked out Cody Gakpo - who assisted Szoboszlai's goal - as the star of the show, with some believing he had his best game in a Liverpool shirt.

One fan wrote: "Gakpo has been electric. Unplayable in full stride."

Another said: "He's been so good tonight. This is how I want my left winger to play."

A third claimed: "Gakpo has been absolutely phenomenal. Best performance in a Liverpool shirt this. Wow."

While a fourth simply stated: "He looks ANGRY."

And a fifth wrote: "Gakpo has taken that Dutch Euros form into a Liverpool shirt for the first time. A potential coming of age performance tonight. Always had the precision, now we are seeing the aggression."
