Jamie Carragher has called out a Liverpool fan in a huge rant after he was criticised for comments about Chelsea star Cole Palmer.

Palmer struck twice in Chelsea's thrilling 4-3 win over Spurs on Sunday, scoring two penalties - including a glorious Panenka spot-kick - to move Enzo Maresca's side up to second in the Premier League.

The Blues were 2-0 down after 10 minutes but completely turned the game around, with Palmer showing his incredible quality once again.

Since joining Chelsea from Manchester City in 2023, Palmer has 33 goals and 17 assists in the Premier League after a stunning meteoric rise. He is playing with such swagger and Carragher caused a stir with a huge statement about the England international's placement in the top flight.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Carragher said: "I loved him last season, and he's started this season really well. If you look at his almost 18 months at Chelsea, I don't think there's been a player in the Premier League that's performed better than him over these 18 months."

Carragher clearly mentioned the timeframe for which he believes Palmer has been clear but a Liverpool fan account missed that section out in their quote, telling Carragher to "be serious" and accuse him of "trying way too hard".

But the pundit took issue with the post, clarifying what he said and furiously unleashing on the fan in a reply on X.

The 46-year-old wrote: "Maybe you try harder at putting the full quote out! I said he’s been the best player over 18 months which he has in my eyes.

"And you probably know I said that but your desperation for likes & retweets knows no bounds!! Your account is so bad, please stop following me."

With Carragher vocal about Mo Salah's contract situation of late following his decision to speak out, another fan said the former Liverpool defender "goes out of his way to avoid giving him a drop of praise".

That also irked Carragher, who produced a sarcastic response where he pointed out the exact glowing praise he gave to Salah, who has scored over 200 goals for Liverpool.

He fired back: "Unbelievable isn’t it! Imagine saying someone is in the top 5 players to ever play for the most successful club in England. I’ll have to start getting my finger out."

Last month, Salah said he had not yet receive an offer from Liverpool ahead of his deal expiring in the summer transfer window and was "probably more out than in".

However, David Ornstein from The Athletic is now reporting that the club have now submitted a first contract proposal to their talisman - though there is nothing signed yet.

Salah has 15 goals in 21 appearances in all competitions for Arne Slot's men this term.
