Liverpool star Ibrahima Konate has spoken out about Real Madrid amid rumours he could join the La Liga side.
When former star player Trent Alexander-Arnold finally left boyhood club Liverpool to join Real Madrid after more than a year of rumours linking him with the Spanish giants, it felt like the end of what had been a nightmare scenario.
But it now appears that it may have only been the start, as recent reports have revealed that centre-back Konate could be set to follow in his former teammate's footsteps and join Real Madrid following the expiration of his Liverpool contract next year.
Although Liverpool were able to use the summer's Club World Cup as a bargaining chip to secure a £10million transfer fee for Alexander-Arnold less than a month before his contract expired, this may not be the case for Konate.

And in the wake of the potential move, some of Konate's previous comments about Real Madrid have resurfaced online.
In February this year, reports emerged suggesting that both Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain were considering making moves for his signature during the summer window.
At the time, the defender spoke with French outlet Telefoot about his season so far, and during the interview he made his feelings towards joining the likes of Madrid and PSG.

Asked about the links, he said: “To hear big clubs like that are showing interest in me is very flattering!
“Now I’m focusing on this season, giving it my all and I’ll let my agents take care of the rest.”
Konate joined Liverpool from Bundesliga club RB Leipzig in July 2021 for a reported fee of £36million.

Since then, he has gone on to establish himself as one of the most important players in the squad, making a total of 132 appearances for the Reds across all competitions.
If he were to leave Liverpool, it would be a massive blow to Arne Slot's side, particularly if he were to leave on a free.
Potentially to help mitigate this risk, reports have suggested that Liverpool are strongly considering making a move for Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi, who is also out of contract next summer.
