Harvey Elliott defies logic with ridiculous pass during England U21s game

Harvey Elliott defies logic with ridiculous pass during England U21s game

Harvey Elliott produced a scintillating display as England Under 21's thrashed Luxembourg 7-0.

Harvey Elliott showed Gareth Southgate what he and England are missing with a sublime performance for the Under 21's.

On Tuesday night the senior squad drew 2-2 with Belgium, with Jude Bellingham grabbing a last-gasp leveller.

But there was a resounding victory for Lee Carsley's Under 21 side as they thrashed Luxembourg 7-0.

There were braces for Noni Madueke, Samuel Iling-Junior and Morgan Rogers, while Jamie Bynoe-Gittens was also on target.

Liverpool star Elliott churned in a superb display, registering two assists in the trouncing.

But the absolute best moment from his display came when he produced an outrageous rabona pass.

The former Fulham man flicked the ball up in the air with his first touch and then fed it wide to Madueke, who proceed to perform some kick-ups.

But he did so with a real swagger, wrapping his left foot around his right in filthy fashion.

Elliott now has 11 goal contributions in his last ten games for club and country and the rabona had fans foaming at the mouth.

One wrote: "Harvey Daniel James Elliott I was not familiar."

A second said: "Harvey Elliott that’s filth."

A third added: "That is naughty from Harvey Elliott."

A fourth commented; "Harvey Elliott. Just WOW."

Elliott is also enjoying a fine season with Liverpool, where he has racked up over 100 appearances.

He is yet to receive a senior call-up but Carsley believes he is doing everything to put himself in contention.

“I’m not sure (how close Harvey is)," he told a press conference.

"But if he’s playing week in, week out for Liverpool, scoring and assisting, being really important in that team, then he will put himself in the frame.

"It’s a big ask. If you’re playing week in, week out in the Premier League at a really high level, then you’re always in with a chance. You’re generally only one or two injuries away from getting the opportunity. The main thing is that they’re putting themselves in the race.”
