The latest update on the transfer saga involving Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz has been issued and it will attract the attention of Liverpool fans.

Wirtz, 22, is one of the most highly rated players in Europe and will be one of the most sought-after players this summer.

The likes of Bayern Munich, Liverpoool and Manchester City have all been linked with a move for the German international.

However, it was recently reported that City have now exited the race to sign Wirtz, leaving Bayern and Liverpool to battle for his signature.

During a recent Q&A, The Athletic's David Ornstein said that Liverpool are 'very interested' in the Leverkusen star, who has managed 16 goals and 15 assists in 45 matches this season.

He said: "Clearly Liverpool are very interested, hence contacting his representatives to express that. As you will have seen, word from the Etihad Stadium is that Manchester City are no longer in contention, citing the overall cost of any deal.

"No such word has emerged from Anfield to date and given the unique nature of the player they’ll want to be in the mix if there is a chance to get him."

Update issued on Florian Wirtz transfer saga

Now, an update has been issued by German news outlet BILD, who claimed that Wirtz has looked at potential areas in which he could live in if he decides Liverpool will be his next club.

Reporter Tobias Altschaffl said: "He's looked at the area, he's apparently looked at houses, if you can believe his colleagues on site. And it was definitely about Liverpool giving it their all.

"Financially, there are no limits for them. I also believe he'll come (To Bayern) in the end, but they're already saying, okay, Liverpool are really serious now. They're also saying whether it's 100 or 150 (million euros), they'd really pay anything."

It has been suggested that Bayern have a 'big advantage' in the race as chief Uli Hoeness has 'good connections with Wirtz’s father’. Hoeness is reportedly leading the negotiations for Bayern.

Meanwhile, BILD's Bayern editor Christian Falk added: "Hoeness is the driving force behind this deal, he has been from the beginning through his contact with Hans-Joachim Wirtz, Florian Wirtz's father. Now Wirtz himself is supposed to be coming, and Florian Wirtz's trip to Tegernsee is reportedly planned.

"Bayern want to put the lid on it now; FC Bayern's very detailed financial framework has already been prepared. So they know they have to act quickly now to get this issue off the table before Liverpool."
