Liverpool forward Federico Chiesa has been linked with a shock move in the January transfer window juts months after joining the Merseyside club.

Italian winger Chiesa joined Liverpool from Juventus in August for a reported fee of £10m, with a potential £2.5m in add-ons based mostly on team performance.

Since arriving, the 27-year-old has made just three appearances for the Reds as he has struggled with a series of injuries that have kept him out of the squad.

And now, a new report has claimed that Chiesa is not fully happy with his current situation and is prepared to leave in January window, with several clubs said to be interested in bringing him in.

The report from Calciomercato, via Get Football, claims that despite Liverpool manager Arne Slot publicly saying that he plans to use Chiesa more once he is fully fit, the Italian is not fully happy with his current situation and wants to play more often.

Therefore, Chiesa will reportedly have a meeting with Slot to discuss his future at the club and where he fits in the pecking order of impressive attacking options currently at Liverpool.

And should he not be satisfied, the Italian would be open to moving away from Liverpool as soon as January, with Serie A side Como said to be interested in making a move should he be available.

However, it is unlikely that any permanent deal involving Chiesa would be possible due to his current contract with Liverpool and wage demands, meaning a loan move would be the only option for the Italian club.

Speaking ahead of Liverpool's 3-2 win over Brighton in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, Slot revealed his surprise plans for Chiesa , as he admitted his frustration over the forward's availability.

He said: “It is a pity that (Diogo) Jota is not available.

“And (Federico) Chiesa is also not available as they were, in my opinion, the most logical No 9s but we still have other options.”

Later in the week, the Liverpool boss provided a more clear update on when fans can expect to see Chiesa back in action for the Reds.

Slot revealed: “Chiesa is not back before the international break, but there is only a week to go. We are hoping he can do things again during the international break and that he can join us afterwards.”
