Curtis Jones was 'forced' to delete a social media post as Liverpool fans are convinced he aimed a dig at Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Liverpool resume their Premier League title-winning campaign on Sunday when they face Arsenal.
The squad went through their paces in training ahead of the Anfield meeting.
Jones and Andy Robertson were among the players pictured at the club's base.
Jones took to social media to post a picture of himself with Robertson.
But the 24-year-old appeared to delete his original post before re-uploading the same image with a different caption.
Liverpool fans are convinced the Scouse midfielder aimed a dig at Alexander-Arnold, who recently announced that he will be leaving the club at the end of the season when his contract expires.
Jones' original caption read: "One of the good guys."
He then seemingly deleted the post before posting the same image, captioned: "My brother."
Liverpool fans online reckon Jones' original caption was directed at Alexander-Arnold.
One X user wrote: "There was no need to delete that. You were 100% correct."
A second said: "The scouser in our team."
A third added: "Haha! No messing around from Curtis! Funny caption."
Alexander-Arnold ended speculation about his future after confirming his Liverpool departure.
He will leave the club as a free agent once his existing deal runs out.
The 26-year-old has received backlash from a section of Liverpool supporters, with Arne Slot saying he is not going to 'tell fans how they should react'.
"I am not here to tell the fans how they should react. I will see Trent in a bit - the boys had a few days off as well - so I will wait and see how he feels about him announcing that he is going to leave the club. I did speak to him on WhatsApp," he said in his pre-match press conference.
"Let's wait and see but I'm not here to tell the fans how they should react. We are all disappointed but Trent is the first one also who said that he would prefer us as a team and a club not to be not too much distracted by this announcement.
"I am hoping that all the energy on Sunday goes to the players and less as possible to Trent - unless it is positive then they can do whatever they want."
