Liverpool fans are convinced that star player Curtis Jones has aimed a brutal dig at former teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold after his move to Real Madrid.

After 20 years at his boyhood club, Alexander-Arnold left Liverpool to join La Liga giants Real Madrid in June, leading to significant backlash from fans.

Although Liverpool were able to negotiate a deal that saw them earn £10million for the deal, Alexander-Arnold was initially set to leave the club as a free agent following the end of his contract, further adding fuel to the fire.

Throughout the saga regarding the defender's future, the Liverpool squad have remained quiet about the situation, with a few of them speaking out to thank Alexander-Arnold after his departure was officially confirmed.

However, Liverpool fans are convinced that Jones may have finally adressed his fellow Liverpudlian's departure with a subtle dig.

With Alexander-Arnold leaving the club, Jones has taken the mantle of the Scouser in the team at Liverpool, and in a recent interview he made it clear that this fact wasn't lost on him.

“I’m just trying to be a humble kid, living the dream,” Jones said while speaking to GQ.

“Scousers have this thing about them that we always have the best [front] out to everybody, so that’s helped me along the way.

“I still keep my Scouse ways in terms of how I go about things, how I portray myself, and the things that I want to do.

“I’m a star in the limelight but I want to give back. I’m humble, I don’t forget where I come from.”

Reacting to the interview, several Liverpool fans claimed that Jones may have been inferring that Alexander-Arnold had forgotten his roots, with some pointing out that his first comment was similar to quote on the defender's mural in Liverpool.

Writing on X, one fan noted: "Hmmm, could that be aimed at someone."

While another claimed: "He hates Trent doesn’t he."

And one wrote: "The TRUE Scouser in our team!"

Jones made 46 appearances for Liverpool this season, with 27 of them being as a starter, making it his most active season for the club.
