'You never hear that at this ground...' - Liverpool fans boo Arne Slot decision during Chelsea game

Arne Slot’s side drew 1-1 draw with Chelsea in the Premier League at Anfield as Liverpool edged closer to Champions League qualification for next season.

Liverpool took the lead in this game through Ryan Gravenberch before Chelsea equalised in the 35^th minute through Enzo Fernandez.

Slot has faced serious questions around his future at the club due to the performances of the team at times this season, while there have also been discussion around the decisions he has made at times in matches and regarding his team selection.

Now, the Anfield faithful have let their feelings known about his latest questionable decision as he decided to substitute Rio Ngumoha, who got the assist for Liverpool’s goal and who excited the crowd throughout.

As the wingers number came up from the fourth official, with the teenager set to be replaced by Alexander Isak in the 66^th minute, boos rang around Anfield from the Liverpool fans regarding this decision.

TNT Sports’ commentary team Darren Fletcher and Ally McCoist, were shocked by the reaction to the substitution.

Fletcher remarked: “You never hear that at this ground.”

The decision would not work out how Slot envisaged, as Isak failed to trouble Chelsea’s defence after his introduction to the match while Cody Gakpo struggled out on the left wing.

Fans appeared to see this being the case, as they wanted Ngumoha to remain on the pitch to provide the much-needed supply that Isak would need to hit the target.

While the boos rang out around Anfield regarding this decision to remove the teenager from the match, fans would once again make their discontent known by repeating this action at the end of the game as Liverpool drew the game.

The point edged them a point closer to Champions League qualification, with the Reds now only needing three points to achieve this in their final two games of the season.

However, coming into this match, Liverpool would have viewed this as a great chance to get a win and make their task of Champions League qualification that much easier in the final two games of the campaign.
