Liverpool’s hierarchy have reportedly made a decision with regards to Arne Slot’s future following the Reds’ 3-0 defeat against Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup fourth round.
A much-changed Liverpool side, featuring debutants Freddie Woodman and Kieran Morrison, fell to yet another defeat to Oliver Glasner’s Crystal Palace on Wednesday.
The south London club recorded their third victory over Liverpool this term, having beaten them in both the Community Shield and Premier League already this season.
Two first-half strikes from Eagles winger Ismaila Sarr saw Glasner’s side go in 2-0 up at half-time with Liverpool struggling in attacking areas.

The home side’s evening was summed up when 18-year-old defender Amara Nallo achieved the unwanted feat of being sent off for the second time in just two senior appearances during the 79th minute, having only been on the pitch for a combined 16 minutes across his two games. Then, three minutes from time, Yeremy Pino made it 3-0 to the away side in the driving rain.
The loss was Liverpool’s sixth in their last seven matches, with the only victory in this run coming via a 5-1 triumph against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League.

So, with Liverpool out of the League Cup and falling behind Arsenal in the Premier League title race, questions are starting to be asked of Slot and his team despite the Dutchman obviously having so-called ‘money in the bank’ after winning the title in his maiden season as boss.

And Liverpool’s fixtures will not get any easier in the coming weeks as they welcome the in-form Aston Villa to Anfield on Saturday before facing Real Madrid at home in the Champions League, ahead of travelling to the Etihad to face Manchester City just five days later.
If results do not change, pressure will inevitably continue to grow in relation to Slot’s position with journalist Fabrizio Romano revealing what he knows about how Liverpool’s hierarchy are feeling about the current situation when he spoke on his YouTube channel.

“Liverpool absolutely internally… and when I say internally, it’s the hierarchy, the ownership, all the people at the club, really, really trust Arne Slot,” Romano said.

“They are 100 percent convinced that Arne Slot is the best manager to handle this situation.
“Obviously, it’s been a poor start to the season, but Liverpool are convinced everything will be okay, that it’s going to take some time to assess the squad with the new signings, to change something, to be back to the attitude from last season.
“But Liverpool have full trust in Slot. There is very good communication on a daily basis between the directors, all the people at the club in the management, and Arne Slot.”
