Liverpool Fans Furious Over Two Arne Slot Decisions After Another Draw vs Leeds

Liverpool fans are furious with manager Arne Slot after their side recorded a second draw of the season against Leeds.

The Reds dominated possession and shots at goal at Anfield but couldn't find a way through an inspired Leeds defence in the 0-0 draw.

Hugo Ekitike had Liverpool's best chance in the first half, but inadvertently headed the ball away from goal from Jeremie Frimpong's cross.

Slot made a series of substitutions in the second half in an attempt to swing the game in Liverpool's favour.

He took off £100 million signing Florian Wirtz on 66 minutes and brought on Cody Gakpo, Alexis Mac Allister and Milos Kerkez.

Gakpo made little impact during his first 15 minutes on the pitch, repeatedly cutting inside onto his right foot to no significant effect.

Federico Chiesa and Rio Ngumoha were brought on during the final 10 minutes, but fans were less than happy that neither player - both natural wingers - were not brought on to affect proceedings earlier instead of Gakpo.

One fan wrote: "Slot takes off Wirtz for Gakpo when we need a goal. Clueless!"

A second said: "Arne Slot's treatment of Federico Chiesa is disgraceful. When the time comes for Arne Slot to leave, he won't be missed."

A third added: "Brings Gakpo on ahead of Chiesa. No wonder the guy wants to leave."

A fourth stated: "The only time he has given Rio Ngumoha a chance is when he needs the 17-year-old to win him a game."

And a fifth wrote: "Rio Ngumoha comes on to play 6 minutes vs Leeds after 8 games on the bench."

Fourth-placed Liverpool's draw at least means they extended their lead to three points over fifth-placed Chelsea, who parted company with manager Enzo Maresca earlier on New Year's Day.

Behind-the-scenes tensions between Maresca and the club's owners reportedly played a key role in his exit, with the Blues releasing just a 99-word statement to confirm the departure of a manager who guided them to the Club World Cup title just six months ago.
