Arne Slot could give a forgotten Liverpool player his first appearance in nearly three years should he intend on heavily rotating his side against Crystal Palace.
The Reds' dismal run of form continued on Saturday evening then they slipped to a 3-2 defeat away at Brentford.
The Premier League champions have lost five of their last six games in all competitions and are looking to bounce back to winning ways on Wednesday when they host a Palace side who have already beaten them twice this season.
Slot may well look to rotate heavily for the Carabao Cup fourth round tie and there could even be the opportunity to bring a surprise player back into the fold.

At right-back, Jeremie Frimpong is out with a hamstring problem - with Conor Bradley the only fit and recognised senior star who primarily plays the position.
Dominik Szoboszlai and Joe Gomez are both capable of deputising in the position but as highlighted by the Liverpool Echo, there is an alternative option in Calvin Ramsay, a £4.2 million signing from Aberdeen in 2022.

Ramsay made his first appearance in the Champions League against Napoli in November 2022 and then got his first start in a third round penalty shoot-out victory over Derby County just over a week later.

That was to be the Scot's final game of the season as in February, he later underwent surgery on his knee which ruled him out for the season.
Ramsay has spent time on loan at Preston, Bolton Wanderers, Wigan Athletic and Kilmarnock but returned to Liverpool in the summer.
The 22-year-old has been playing for the Under 21's, captaining the side in three of his eight appearances and scoring in a 4-1 victory over Merseyside rivals Everton on Sunday.
But with Bradley's fitness not always too reliable, there is a chance that Ramsay could get a rare start given the current situation.

He played 59 minutes before being substituted in his last outing, which could suggests his game-time may have been managed ahead of a possible first-team appearance.
Liverpool are dealing with injuries to a number of key players, including Alisson Becker, Frimpong, Ryan Gravenberch, Alexander Isak and Curtis Jones, who was forced off against Brentford.
With the current state of play on the treatment table, youngsters Rio Ngumoha and Trey Nyoni have emerged as leading candidates to start at Anfield on Wednesday.
