Liverpool fans are all saying the same thing after Alexis Mac Allister’s first training session since joining the club.

Back in June, Liverpool ended weeks of speculation by announcing the signing of Mac Allister from Brighton and Hove Albion in a deal worth a reported £35 million.

On Tuesday, the Argentine World Cup winner arrived at the AXA Training Centre for his first session as a Liverpool player.

After the session, Mac Allister was asked what his highlight from the day was. You can watch the footage below.

Mac Allister said: “My first highlight was when I tried to make a foul on Diogo [Jota] when we were doing the test, the lactate test.

“It's nice, it's nice to be here with my team-mates. Of course a tough day, but nice to start pre-season like this.”

However, fans were quick to say the same thing as they reacted to Mac Allister’s interview on social media.

One said: “He looks exhausted.”

Another tweeted: “Our training must be really intense for him to be that tired lol.”

A third fan added: “A very intense training session. He is finding it hard to catch his breath.”

Someone else wrote: “Yupp, he ain't t the one replacing Milner as lactate test man.”

Whilst a fifth commented: “First day of training and dude is already looking exhausted.”

Over the last few years, Liverpool have always started pre-season with the dreaded lactate test and it looks like Mac Allister was feeling the aftereffects of the gruelling test of stamina.

During his first interview with the club, the 24-year-old said: “It feels amazing. It's a dream come true, it's amazing to be here and I can't wait to get started.

“I wanted to be in [from] the first day of pre-season, so it’s good that everything is done. I’m looking forward to meeting my teammates.”

He added: “It was a fantastic year for me – World Cup, what we achieved with Brighton – but now it's time to think about Liverpool and try to be a better player and a better human being every day.”
