Alexis Mac Allister reveals what caused Nunez and Pep to come to blows – “I’m not sure I should tell you but I will..”

Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister reveals exactly what was said in the heated clash between Darwin Nunez and Man City boss Guardiola.

Alexis Mac Allister has revealed what caused Darwin Nunez and Pep Guardiola to come to blows following Liverpool's 1-1 draw with Manchester City.

The Reds shared the points with City during a tense encounter at the Etihad Stadium with Nunez and Guardiola exchanging blows.

Erling Haaland gave City the lead just before the half hour mark with Trent Alexander-Arnold equalising with just 10 minutes of the game left.

The result has allowed Arsenal to move to the top of the table with Mikel Arteta's side due to face Liverpool later this month.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp helped break up the scuffle between Nunez and Guardiola and now Mac Allister has revealed what was said leading up to the situation.

"I imagine Jurgen didn’t understand anything (that was said) after the game," the Reds midfielder told Clank!

"As Jurgen said, they are two very emotional people, both Pep and Darwin, and it was nothing. Some comment that Pep made, Darwin responded to it, but it wasn’t anything out of this world.

"Yes (Darwin took it seriously and Pep saw it more as a joke). I don’t know if I should tell it but I’m going to tell you (what caused it). Basically, they had a situation.

"I don't know if it was a corner or a cross that Haaland headed and the ball went past the goal next to the post. Pep turned around and started saying how lucky we are or something like that.

"Then it goes to the last bit of play, the ball is crossed into the middle and Lucho Diaz wants to head it and they save it. So then Darwin tells him (Guardiola), 'ah, now you are the ones who are lucky'.

"From there, everything went to s**t. But it was very calm. Nothing serious."

Mac Allister also explained how he was laughing during the situation because he saw the exchange of words as a joke, but it appears in the heat of the moment Nunez's and Guardiola's emotions took charge.
