Highlights of Alexis Mac Allister's Liverpool debut have gone viral

Alexis Mac Allister impressed on his Liverpool debut as they ran out 4-2 winners over Karlsruher.

Alexis Mac Allister enjoyed an impressive debut for Liverpool as they ran out 4-2 winners in their first game of pre-season.

The Reds took on German side Karlsruher and went 1-0 up early on through Darwin Nunez, now wearing the No.9 shirt following the departure of Roberto Firmino.

But the hosts turned things around at Wildparkstadion with goals from former Germany internationals Lars Stindl and Sebastian Jung.

Cody Gakpo then pulled Liverpool level before Diogo Jota scored a sublime, quick-fire brace in stoppage time.

New signing £60 million Dominik Szoboszlai started on his return to Germany but it was the second addition, Mac Allister, who made the biggest impression.

The World Cup winner, a £35 million capture from Brighton, came on at half-time and slotted into Liverpool's midfield three with absolute ease.

His first pass went astray but after that Mac Allister settled into the game and started spraying the ball about and linking up with his teammates.

He wowed Jurgen Klopp in training and he showed what he's all about in the 90th minute when he nipped in to win the ball back for Liverpool before slipping in Jota with a delightful pass that left a defender on the floor.

The Portuguese forward rolled in his second goal in minutes and was sure to celebrate with Mac Allister.

In total, Mac Allister had 41 touches and completed 27 out of 32 attempted passes (84% accuracy), while also completing two long balls and one tackle.

He had two key passes to his name - one being the assist - and received a SofaScore of 7.5 for his performance. Only Mo Salah, Jota and Cody Gakpo had higher marks and Mac Allister's promising first outing has been captured in a compilation from SVMM.

Fans liked what they saw from the Argentine and think he will be a fine addition to what could be a new-look Reds midfield.

One said: "Looks very good on the ball. Has great vision. Very creative. What a playmaker!"

A second commented: "Smooth as butter. He has own pace that is deceptive. He controls the game from the midfield."

Another added: "He nits everything together so well. I’d like to see him a bit deeper in build up getting the ball off the CB’s like he did at Brighton but even in the advanced 8 he’s so effective. Proper player."

A fourth opined: "Exactly what I expected, class. Everything he does is just pure class. He's like Thiago but with a bit more about him in terms of final 3rd, fitness and pressing."

A fifth wrote: "Macca oozes quality, technically brilliant on the ball. 35m what a bargain."

A final user weighed in, saying: "He reminds me a bit of Kroos or Xabi alonso, just a bit higher up the pitch and better at pressing."

£35 million might just end up being an absolute steal and Jota has already being waxing lyrical about his new teammate after one game.

"I really like these kind of players, I have to tell you," Jota said when asked about his relationship with Mac Allister.

“They can see the passes and it’s almost like, you just need to make the run and they will see it and that’s amazing.

“I start to see I can link up very well with him and hopefully we can take this into the season.”
