Lionel Messi gave teammate free tickets to his Inter Miami unveiling

Lionel Messi was officially unveiled as an Inter Miami player on Sunday night

Lionel Messi is already making an impression within the Inter Miami squad after helping a teammate with tickets to his much-anticipated unveiling.

Last month, it was confirmed that Messi would sign for MLS side Inter Miami upon the expiration of his contract with French giants Paris Saint Germain.

On Sunday, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner was officially unveiled in front of a packed crowd at the DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale.

The event was in such high demand that even Inter Miami player Leonardo Campana couldn’t get enough tickets, but then Messi stepped in. You can watch the footage below.

According to Inter Miami defender DeAndre Yedlin, Messi popped up surprisingly in the players’ group chat to save the day.

He told the media: “Actually for the little event that he had, well, I say little event...

“The big event that he had on Sunday, Campana was looking for tickets and he put in the group chat, 'Hey, does anybody have any tickets?'

“And then I didn't even know that Leo was in or Messi was in the group chat yet.”

Yedlin continued: “But he popped up straight away and said, 'How many do you need though?' Straight away like that.

“So just from there I was like, 'Wow.' Straight off the bat. They've known each other for maybe, I dunno two days, three days or something.

“But just to show that generosity, that is a great first example of how he is.”

During his unveiling, Messi said: “I'm sure we're going to have many wonderful experiences.

“I'm very much moved to be here in Miami, to be with you. I want to thank you, all of you, on behalf of my family, for the kindness that you have given me.”

Whilst Inter Miami’s co-owner, David Beckham added: “Tonight is a typical Miami welcome for one of the greatest players to ever have played the game.

“The fact that we have our fans in here, celebrating this moment... this is what we have created and we're very proud of that.”
