Lionel Messi's opponent who was dribbled over while injured finally responds

Lionel Messi's opponent who was dribbled over while injured finally responds

He has broken his silence.

A clip of Lionel Messi audaciously dribbling over a player laying injured on the floor went viral this week.

Messi, an eight-time Ballon d’Or winner, put on a masterclass when Inter Miami took on Real Salt Lake, inspiring his team to a hard-fought 2-0 victory.

En route to the win however, the 36-year-old pulled off a sublime piece of footwork that caught the imagination of fans on social media.

While weaving through Salt Lake’s defence, Messi executed an exquisite piece of skill, chipping the ball over Andrew Brody, who was curled up injured on the floor.

Having been on the receiving end of the viral incident, Brody has since taken to Instagram.

Posting to his Instagram story, the 28-year-old defender shared to pictures of himself injured on the floor, with the caption:"For those asking, yes I was the cone on the ground there."

Messi was also involved in both games during the game, providing the assist for Robert Taylor’s opener in the 39th minute.

Messi then combined well with Luis Suarez, who went on to flick a pass to Diego Gomez to claim the second.

After the game Inter Miami boss Tata Martino was full of praise for his side’s talisman, who had endured an injury-hit pre-season.

Martino said: “If anybody had been sceptical about what this team can do, I think the first half showed them.

“I saw [Messi] playing free on the field. And with the same fine touch he always had. And he showed some speed too. He has a characteristic that no other player has.

“He grabs the ball very far from the rival goal and the feeling he gives is that he will generate something and will end in a goal situation.

“The play he had alone against two players at the end of the game is a sign that he is good physically and also happy to be on the pitch.”
