Jamie Vardy ‘Contacted’ Over Immediate Return to English Football

The former Leicester City and England striker is currently plying his trade with Cremonese in Italy.

Jamie Vardy has reportedly been contacted about a return to English football less than a year into his spell at Serie A side Cremonese.

Vardy, who won the 2015/16 Premier League with Leicester City, left the Foxes upon the expiration of his contract with the East Midlands club following their relegation to the Championship in the summer of 2025.

The 39-year-old striker later joined Serie A side Cremonese and has since netted five times in 19 appearances for the Italians.

The team currently sit 15th in the Italian top-flight and are six points clear of the relegation zone as things stand after 23 games this term.

However, life in the idyllic region of Lombardy has not come without its challenges.

As reported by Sky Sports, Vardy’s Lake Garda home, which sits around an hour from Cremona, was burgled in November 2025.

Vardy and his wife, Rebekah, were not at their £2 million home when the incident happened. Local police said cash, jewellery and a Patek Philippe wristwatch were snatched, according to The Sun.

Captain Giacomo Tessarolo of Salo Carabinieri said: “We have CCTV which shows the individuals entering the house through a window that was left open.

“They were on the premises for several minutes before escaping with the watch and several other high-value items. There was a woman inside, not his wife but the babysitter.”

And could this prompt the family to return to England?

Although the answer to this question remains unclear, one of Vardy’s former Leicester City teammates has revealed that he contacted the forward about a return to English football.

Speaking to the Mail, former Foxes left-back and current Newport County head coach Christian Fuchs said he “asked Jamie if he wanted to pack his bags” after undertaking the role at the League Two side earlier this winter.

“Of course I did, even though I knew what the answer would be!” Fuchs said.

Despite Vardy’s Cremonese contract being set to expire in the summer of 2026, the likelihood of him swapping life in the Italian top-flight for a return to the Football League appears to be slim.

For now, the 39-year-old will have attention firmly fixed on keeping Cremonese in Serie A while Fuchs is tasked with guiding Newport away from the relegation zone in League Two, with the side currently three points from safety.
