Fans have been reacting on social media after seeing what Jamie Vardy did during Leicester City's match against Southampton.

On Saturday afternoon, the two already-relegated teams in the Premier League faced off at the King Power Stadium.

Foxes legend Vardy scored the opener with 17 minutes on the clock to make it 1-0 to the hosts.

However, the game was stopped with 20 minutes on the clock as referee David Webb went down injured after catching the shoulder of Leicester star Jordan Ayew.

As the referee had his hands on his face while on the floor, Vardy went up to the official, grabbed his whistle and blew it. You can watch the footage below.

Reporting the match live on their website, BBC Sport wrote: "Jamie Vardy did run over to the ref while he was on the turf and blew his whistle.

Not something you see every week in the Premier League."

Reacting to Vardy's action on social media, one fan said: "Jamie Vardy never change. Sad to see him leave at the end of the season."

Another tweeted: "Vardy being Vardy."

A third fan added: "Grabbing the referee’s whistle to stop the game, more vintage Jamie Vardy!!"

Someone else wrote: "Jamie Vardy, iconic."

A fifth commented: "This is peak Vardy."

Another fan said: "Jordan Ayew cleans out the ref and Jamie Vardy gets his whistle and blows it."

Eventually, Webb was deemed not fit enough to continue, and he was replaced by fourth official Sam Barrott.

Speaking about Vardy's goal in the 17th minute, former Chelsea and England star Fara Williams said on BBC Radio 5 Live: "Somebody like Jamie Vardy, his goal record at the club is unbelievable. It's been a wait, but what a wait, the goal is an unbelievable finish.

"He's thinking he can go and get his 200th Leicester goal in this game."
