Jamie Carragher Speaks Out on ‘Small Boats Anger’ After Gary Neville Rant

Jamie Carragher has spoken about Gary Neville's recent comments.

Former Liverpool and England star Jamie Carragher has spoken about the 'small boats anger' following Gary Neville's recent comments.

Last month, Neville shared his thoughts on the current situation in the country after a shocking incident in Manchester saw two people killed during an attack at the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue.

Adrian Daulby, 53, and Melvin Cravitz, 66, were the victims, and the suspected attacker, Jihad Al-Shamie, was shot dead at the scene.

In a video, Neville praised the Jewish community for remaining defiant in the face of the horrible incident and called out the division within the country that he claims is mainly being created by 'angry, middle-aged white men'.

He said: "Seeing the news last night and the news this morning dominated by the horrific attacks within the Jewish community, just a mile from here.

“When I was driving to Salford City last night, going down Littleton Road, I seen probably 50 or 60 Union Jack flags. And on the way back I went down the parallel road, Bury New Road, which has got the Jewish community right at its heart and they’re out on the streets, defiant, not hiding or in fear.

“I just kept thinking as I was driving home last night that we’re all being turned on each other. And the division that’s being created is absolutely disgusting. Mainly created by angry, middle-aged white men, who know exactly what they’re doing.”

Neville's comments quickly went viral on social media and the 50-year-old was faced with criticism.

In a recent appearance on LBC, ex-Liverpool man Carragher was also asked about the anger and the division in the country.

Over the last few months, a lot of anger and criticism have been directed at the government due to irregular migrants attempting to cross the English Channel in small boats without permission to enter the UK.

He said: "Gary (Neville) is, as you've just said, I think, described him as more politically active than probably I am. I don't think there's any doubt that it does feel, and I don't know if it goes back to Brexit or obviously, the situation now.

"It's not just about the Labour government, it's probably you know, goes back to the Conservative government about people coming in on boats and things like that."

Carragher continued: "It just feels like there is a lot of anger in the country and it's very, it does feel divisive. I don't remember it being like this.

"That's understandable but I don't think that's to do with actually whether it's Labour or Conservative. I don't think that's sort of like 'Oh, this is Keir Starmer's fault'.

"This has been going on for a while. I just think what happened around Brexit and that type of thing, I thought that was a big mistake, Brexit. It's probably been proven correct."

After being told that 'Gary can deal with the boats and you can deal with Brexit', Carragher smiled and said: "And then we'll be alright."
