Inter Miami's local rivals respond to Lionel Messi price backlash with genius season ticket scheme

Inter Miami’s rivals, Miami FC have come up with a brilliant ticket scheme on the back of Lionel Messi’s arrival.

Earlier in the summer, Argentine legend Messi ditched European football after leaving Paris Saint Germain for MLS side Inter Miami.

Since Messi’s arrival, many more eyes have been attracted to Inter Miami and football in the United States in general has seen a huge increase in popularity.

However, Inter Miami have been hit with criticism over their ticket prices for the new season.

On social media, one fan wrote: “My 2023 season ticket plan was $6,802.00 for two seats. The price they quoted to retain my seats is $30,600.00

“This makes Inter Miami the most expensive soccer ticket in the world with what I can only assume is the biggest year-over-year price increase ever. Outrageous.”

In response to the fan’s displeasure, Inter Miami’s local rivals, Miami FC have taken the opportunity to advertise their own tickets.

On social media, they wrote: “Make sure to lock in your season memberships at family-friendly prices for fútbol in the 305 before our last home game of the season.”

The cost of a full-season membership for Miami FC is priced at $250 for adults and $50 for youth.

Recently, Hollywood actor Owen Wilson spoke about the impact Messi has had in the US.

As per the Daily Mail, he said: “I remember as a kid it was such a huge deal when Pelé played for the Cosmos, and it feels like that again with Messi except maybe even bigger.

“I think it's already doing it for the MLS. You can see the excitement. I had a friend in Dallas, them going to the games. Just all over country. Even my mother is now really into it.”
