We have witnessed a feast of goals at this summer's World Cup thus far.
In total, 216 goals have been scored across 17 action-packed days, with 18 group-stage matches being won by three or more goals, a huge increase on the five recorded at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
France, Germany and the Netherlands were tied for most goals in the group stage with 10, while Argentina, the United States, Canada, Norway, Senegal and Brazil each found the net eight times.
This year represents the highest average number of goals scored per game (2.99) in a group stage since the 32-team format began in 1998.

Of course, the field expanding to 48 teams has played a significant role in that tally, but we should not ignore the utter brilliance of Lionel Messi, who is currently the tournament's top goalscorer.
After scoring a brace against Austria, Messi surpassed former Germany striker Miroslav Klose to become the highest scorer in World Cup history with 18 goals.
So, Messi is one of the players to have scored at this summer's tournament, but can you name the other 37? For what it's worth, those who score 25 or over should give themselves a hearty round of applause.
