Olivier Giroud reacted live on the BBC after Kylian Mbappé broke his France goalscoring record.
Giroud, who helped France win the 2018 World Cup, is currently on punditry duties for BBC Sport during the tournament despite still playing professionally for Ligue 1 side Lille.
On Tuesday (June 16), he started the evening as Les Bleus' all-time leading goalscorer with 57 goals in 137 appearances.
However, by the end of France's 3-1 win over Senegal in New York/New Jersey, he had been relegated to second place after Mbappé netted a stunning brace to help his side to victory.

Mbappé opened the scoring in the 66th minute and, in doing so, equalled Giroud's record. Bradley Barcola's smart finish made it 2-0 before the Africans pulled one back through Ibrahim Mbaye in the fifth minute of second-half stoppage time.

The entertainment did not stop there as Mbappé unleashed a long-range strike, leaving Edouard Mendy with no chance and making French football history by registering his 58th international goal.
He also moved level with Ronaldo Nazário and Gerd Müller on 15 World Cup goals – the second-most of any player, behind former Germany striker Miroslav Klose on 16.
Giroud reacts to Mbappe breaking his France goalscoring record
Just minutes later, Giroud gave his reaction live on BBC Sport, and the former Arsenal and Chelsea striker appeared delighted for his compatriot, instantly congratulating Mbappé on breaking his goalscoring record.
"A much, much better second half," he said.
"Congrats, Kylian, you made it. I'm really happy for him. He had a good second half, a better connection with Olise. He showed the team the way."
Giroud had also spoken about Mbappé potentially breaking his record earlier in the evening, suggesting he could even reach the 100-goal mark.
The Frenchman said: "It was expected.
"I'm happy it is him [who will break the record].
"He will beat every single record anyway; caps, goals – he can easily reach 100 goals, and maybe Klose's World Cup goals record.
"He has delivered great performances at World Cups and in big games."
Former England striker Wayne Rooney also spoke highly of Mbappé.
"Mbappé is an absolute superstar," he said. "As I said at half-time, you are quite lucky as a forward because you can have 45 minutes like he had in the first half and be disappointing, and then you can come out and have a second half like he just had. He's absolutely incredible.
"No doubt, throughout this tournament he will go on to become the greatest World Cup goalscorer of all time."
Despite Mbappé's electric second-half performance, Giroud was also quick to mention several of his team-mates.
He added: "By re-adjusting Olise's position to a more central role and closer to Mbappé, we can see the good understanding they can have. The freedom Olise can enjoy in that position, playing higher up the pitch, allows Dembélé to do the job out wide in one-v-one situations, so Deschamps has a lot of options."
France return to action against Iraq on June 22 before finishing their Group I campaign against Norway on June 26.
