The World Cup is nearly upon us, with just spots left for the 2026 showpiece in North America this summer.

The complete line up for the 48-team tournament will be known during this international break after the European and intercontinental play-offs take place.

UEFA's set up includes a total of 12 teams but only four from the likes of Italy, Northern Ireland, Wales, Poland, Ukraine and Sweden will find themselves competing on the big stage.

Two qualify from the intercontinental play-offs through a mini-tournament.

This World Cup will be the first to feature 48 teams, an increase from the previous number of 32. That has opened up opportunities to Haiti, Cape Verde, Curacao, Uzbekistan and Jordan to play in a World Cup alongside big guns like Argentina, Germany, France, Brazil and Spain.

Miroslav Klose is the record goalscorer in World Cup history with 16 strikes across four different tournaments but here at SPORTbible, we thought it would be worthwhile testing your knowledge on who is the top scorer in history for all 42 teams who have sealed their spot.

Of course many of the big nations have household names but if we're being completely honest, the whole quiz is rock solid and you require serious ball knowledge.

The deeper you go, the trickier it goes and so anyone who gets more than half has done a very impressive job

Netherlands' record goalscorer might take you by surprise and the player with the most goals for France could be about to change very quickly. Many of the top scorers are still actively playing and are able to their respective tallies.

Take the quiz below and let us know on social media how many you got.
