England supporters could not believe their eyes after spotting a bizarre detail inside Inter&Co Stadium during the Three Lions' 3-0 victory over Costa Rica.

On Wednesday (June 10), Thomas Tuchel's side made light work of Costa Rica, with Anthony Gordon the standout performer in an emphatic 3-0 win.

The Barcelona winger produced a goal and an assist, while Declan Rice and Ollie Watkins also got on the scoresheet.

The match was England's final public fixture before the 2026 World Cup officially gets underway, with co-hosts Mexico set to open the tournament against South Africa in Mexico City on Thursday (June 11).

Tuchel's side will also face Miami FC in a behind-closed-doors match before the tournament.

The Three Lions' campaign gets underway against Croatia in Dallas, Texas, on June 17 before later facing Ghana and Panama in Group L.

Despite the convincing performance, England's friendly was not without drama, as kick-off was delayed by an hour due to storms.

However, England fans spotted something else that many suggested sums up everything that is wrong with modern football.

In the 15th minute, ITV Sport's cameras panned to Rice taking a corner, with fans quick to point out a group of supporters eating at tables in the front row.

Why were there people eating at tables by the corner flag ffs 😭😭😭 pic.twitter.com/px5s3qwzy3

One said: "Why were there people eating at tables by the corner flag? FFS."

Another added: "Anyone else hoping a player smacks the ball into those fans sitting pitch-side, eating and drinking at the England vs Costa Rica game? Just me then."

A third commented: "Americans have built-in dinner tables at the footy."

While a fourth slammed: "Fans sitting down eating at a table next to the corner flag. No wonder the atmosphere is rubbish."

As a fifth waded in: "WAIT, THEY HAVE DINNER TABLES IN THE FRONT ROW. USA WORLD CUP IS A JOKE."

A sixth joked: “Are they playing in a Wetherspoons? Tables behind the corner flag.”

Thomas Tuchel pleased with England performance

Speaking after England’s victory, Tuchel praised the side’s “intensity, commitment” and “cohesion”.

“I wished for that, I demanded that; I said before the match we want to push it to the next level, from intensity, commitment, cohesion, and we did that,” the German said.

“We could see the impact of the Arsenal players coming into camp and we could see the impact of training.

“We see the adaptation to the heat and we see things clicking, but we demanded it today from the players to take the next step and they did. The result takes care of itself, but we did it on a high level.

“I think we set the tone today in the meeting and the players were ready to follow, to have the next step in intensity and the way we play, to push ourselves and get a good feeling out of it. The energy in the stadium was amazing. I thought: ‘OK, if we can really play like this and grow into the tournament and have this kind of cohesion and brotherhood and team spirit that we showed today, then we will have an amazing connection with the fans.’”
