A comparison of statistics for the midfield trio of Elliot Anderson, Adam Wharton and Alex Scott has provided a very clear winner.
All three players are being linked with big-money moves away from Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace and Bournemouth respectively this summer.
Anderson has attracted significant interest from Manchester City and Manchester United, and has been named in England's 26-man squad for the World Cup.
Scott has joined up with the squad for their pre-World Cup training camp, while Wharton is believed to have been named in the 55-man provisional squad, meaning he can be called up as a replacement in the event of injury before England's opening fixture against Croatia on June 17.

But which player wins when their 2025/26 Premier League stats are compared? Let's take a look:
Anderson, Wharton and Scott compared
We've used Squawka's Comparison Matrix to compare Anderson, Wharton and Scott in three key areas - their attacking, passing and defensive metrics.
In terms of attacking, Anderson is the clear victor - with more goals and assists per 90 minutes than Scott. He has the same amount of assists as Wharton within the metric calculations.
He also has recorded comfortably more forward passes (21.9) compared to Scott (11.2) and Wharton (15.9).
But Wharton did perform more strongly in terms of chances created per 90 minutes, with 1.6 compared to Anderson's 1.5

Anderson, meanwhile, also dominates the passing statistics, with more passes attempted and both higher pass accuracy and long pass accuracy than his counterparts.
Wharton is stronger in terms of attempted through balls, with 0.8 compared to Anderson and Scott (0.3).
The Nottingham Forest midfielder is again, though, a clear winner overall across all four metrics.

But it is defensively where perhaps the most telling differences lie.
Anderson has more take-ons completed (1.4 compared to Scott's 1 and Wharton's 0.6) and significantly more ground duels won (6.3, compared to 4.7 and 4.1).
He also ties for most interceptions won against Scott.
And the midfielder has more ball recoveries (8.3 versus 6.2 and 5.8) than both of his rivals.
Anderson does narrowly lose out in take on success percentage to Bournemouth star Scott.

The all-around stats make it clear, however, that Anderson is the best option for clubs to pursue this summer.
According to reports, Nottingham Forest have placed a £115 million price tag on his head - which only the richest clubs in world football will be able to match.
