Darren England to referee first match since Liverpool VAR error

Darren England to referee first match since Liverpool VAR error

Darren England will be the man in the middle again on Saturday.

Darren England will referee his first match since the major VAR error during Tottenham vs. Liverpool on Saturday.

England hasn't taken charge of a fixture in the UK since his VAR error that angered Liverpool.

He was at fault for wrongly disallowing Luis Diaz's goal for offside against Spurs when in control of VAR last month.

He was dropped by the PGMOL and questions were raised after the official was involved in a UAE Pro League match before the Premier League fixture at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Jurgen Klopp called for a rematch following the inexplicable VAR decision as England will NOT officiate the Reds for the rest of the season after his involvement in their 2-1 defeat.

England was the fourth official for the top flight clash between Brentford and Burnley last Saturday but will be the man in the middle again, having been eased back in the fold.

According to The Daily Mail, he will take charge of the big Championship fixture between Cardiff City and Bristol City.

The Severnside derby, which will take place at the Cardiff City stadium, is one of the fiercest rivalries in the UK and was always going to be refereed by someone in the Select Group of officials, per the report.

Cardiff vs Bristol City is scheduled to kick off at 3pm (UK time) as the Robins sit in eighth place in the table, just one point off the final play-off spot.

As for the Welsh side, they occupy 11th place and are one point behind Nigel Pearson's team.

Dan Cook, who was England's assistant for Spurs vs. Liverpool, was the linesman for last weekend's Premier League game between Sheffield United and Manchester United.
