Fans believe Cristiano Ronaldo's days on top of European football may be over after reading a damning Euro 2024 stat.

Ronaldo's journey at Euro 2024 came to an end on Friday night as Portugal were knocked out of the the tournament by France in the quarterfinals.

After narrowly making it past Slovenia in the previous round, the 39-year-old confirmed that this would be his final European Championships, making the match against France his final ever in the competition.

And unfortunately for the striker, it will not be a competition to look back on fondly, after a damning statistic has revealed how poorly Ronaldo has performed this summer.

The xG Philiophy pointed out the statistic on X, writing: "Cristiano Ronaldo scored 0 goals from 3.72(xG) at Euro 2024."

Responding to the post, one fan wrote: "My goat is officially washed 😢"

While another pointed out the quality of the players being kept out of the starting line-up by Ronaldo, writing: "And useless outside the box as well. Embarrassing that they keep playing him. Insulting to the much better alternatives."

Ronaldo failed to score a single goal at the tournament, despite having several big chances across all five of Portugal's Euro 2024 matches.

His biggest chance came in the match with Slovakia, when Ronaldo had a penalty to put his team in front late in the first period of extra time.

But, the striker missed, causing him to break down in tears shortly after.

Players like Liverpool's Diogo Jota and Paris Saint-Germain's Goncalo Ramos, who temporarily displaced Ronaldo at the 2022 Qatar World Cup, have struggled to break into Portugal's regular starting line-up in place of the former Manchester United forward.

And other fans agreed with this assessment, with another pointing out that, via Fotmob , Ronaldo was the lowest rated player to start for Portugal against France, writing: "He dragged the team down."

Ronaldo received a 6.1 rating from the website, with only substitute Joao Felix receiving a lower rating for Portugal.

Felix played just 15 minutes in extra time but was the player to miss in Portugal's 5-3 penalty shootout loss.

France will face Spain in the semi-finals at 8pm BST on Tuesday night.
