An unexpected guest gatecrashed Coventry City's raucous title-winning celebrations on Sunday – and dressing room footage of his surprise appearance is going viral on social media.

Coventry will return to the Premier League for the first time in 25 years after securing their promotion from the Championship.

It has been a campaign to remember for Frank Lampard's side, who made light work of play-off chasers Wrexham on Sunday as goals from Brandon Thomas-Asante, Victor Torp and Ephron Mason-Clark sealed a 3-1 win.

After the full-time whistle, Lampard grabbed the microphone to talk to Coventry's fans.

“You’ve been down a lot," he said. "You’ve been to different stadiums. You’ve followed this team, other teams, all the teams because when you’re born this way you’re never going to change, right? When you’ve gone through everything."

“I’ve got to say that one of the biggest pleasures we get as a group is giving you the joy of this moment," added Lampard. "This moment is yours.”

A short time later, Lampard and his Coventry players made their way back to the dressing room, where the celebrations continued.

And in an unexpected moment, the first-team squad serenaded darts player Stephen Bunting, who arrived on the scene to the sound of his iconic walk-on song Titanium by David Guetta.

Here's how fans on social media reacted to the below clip.

One wrote: "It just makes zero sense. Stephen Bunting, a darts player and Liverpool fan, going into the Coventry dressing room in his darts gear, like what?" and a second commented: "It’s moments like this which makes me love football."

A third said: "That is without a doubt the best thing I've ever seen," and a fourth added: "A 100 guesses and that caption and I still wouldn’t had guessed who walked into the room."

The reason behind Stephen Bunting's appearance in Coventry

Bunting's cameo in the West Midlands came as a surprise to many, but the Liverpool-born recently spoke about his connection with the newly promoted club.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Bunting says Coventry reached out to him with the request.

“Coventry City have been in touch, they want me to go down on Sunday and have a game with some of the players which would be interesting and get them ready for the Premier League next year," he said.

“They were on the team bus and they were doing the Titanium and the whole bus was singing it, so I think that's where that's come about.

“It'd be great to go down and see some of the lads and have a game of darts with them and congratulate them all because it's such an achievement what they've done, getting into the Premier League and now the big job for them is to stay in it.”

Clearly, that game extended to an unforgettable dressing room invite.
