A shocking new report has claimed that Chelsea owner Todd Boehly and other members of the ownership is considering leaving the club.

California-based private equity company and Boehly led a consortium that completed a takeover of the London club in May 2022, acquiring it for a reported fee of £4.25 billion.

Since the takeover, the new owners have been met with a mixed reception as fans began questioning their activity in the transfer windows.

And now, a new report has claimed that Boehly and other senior members of the ownership are considering leaving the club.

The report from Bloomberg claims that due to a deterioration in relations between Clearlake co-founder Behdad Eghbali and Boehly, Chelsea's main shareholders are exploring their options regarding the ownership.

It goes on to state that Clearlake, who are Chelsea's majority owners, and Boehly are each exploring options to buy each other out.

Apparently several factors have caused the division between the two men, including clashing opinions on Chelsea’s recruitment policy, a failure to being the process of building a new stadium and the recent performance of the team.

However, despite the rift, both Clearlake and Boehly are said to be totally committed to the club and working together in a professional manner.

The departure of either Boehly or Clearlake would likely lead to huge changes regarding how the club and would mark the second significant change in Chelsea's senior management to happen recently following the departure of chief executive Chris Jurasek earlier this week.

Since taking over in 2022, Chelsea have spent over £1billion in the transfer market and while some signings, like star man Cole Palmer, have been a resounding success, many of them have fallen out of favour with the fanbase.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Kalidou Koulibaly and Mykhaylo Mudryk, who was recently called out by new manager Enzo Maresca, stand out as perhaps three of the worst signings under the new ownership

There have also been consistent issues with Chelsea's manager since the takeover, with five different men occupying the job in the two year period under Clearlake and Boehly, the most recent being Maresca who joined from Leicester City in June.
