Simon Jordan Warns Chelsea of Punishment Over 74 Charges

Chelsea have been issued 74 charges by the Football Association.

Simon Jordan has revealed the punishment he expects Chelsea to receive after being charged by the Football Association.

On Thursday, the FA released a statement saying that Chelsea had been charged with 74 alleged breaches of the rules on working with agents and third-party investment in players.

The statement suggested that the charges relate to incidents which occurred between 2009 and 2022.

In addition, it is believed that the charges are mainly related to incidents that happened between the 10/11 and 15/16 seasons, when Roman Abramovich was the owner of the Blues.

Chelsea have until 19 September 2025 to respond.

Reacting to the news, former Crystal Palace chairman Jordan revealed the punishment he expects Chelsea to get for the charges.

He said on talkSPORT: "They declared themselves, Todd Boehly volunteered that information, so they pretty much detailed it themselves, so they will have clout in their favour in terms of the sentencing that they will get.

"What will the consequences be? I would assume financial. I would assume financial. If it's financial, it will not cost Boehly anything; it will cost Romano Abramovich something."

Chelsea break silence on FA charges

In response to the charges, Chelsea issued a statement of their own.

It read: "Chelsea FC is pleased to confirm that its engagement with The FA concerning matters that were self-reported by the club is now reaching a conclusion.

"The Club’s ownership group completed its purchase of the club on 30 May 2022. During a thorough due diligence process prior to completion of the purchase, the ownership group became aware of potentially incomplete financial reporting concerning historical transactions and other potential breaches of FA rules. Immediately upon the completion of the purchase, the Club self-reported these matters to all relevant regulators, including The FA.

"The Club has demonstrated unprecedented transparency during this process, including by giving comprehensive access to the Club’s files and historical data. We will continue working collaboratively with The FA to conclude this matter as swiftly as possible. We wish to place on record our gratitude to The FA for their engagement with the Club on this complex case, the focus of which has been on matters that took place over a decade ago."

Chelsea are back in Premier League action this weekend when they take on Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
