Mauricio Pochettino 'happy he was booked' after his furious post-match antics vs Man City

He deserved a card.

Mauricio Pochettino admitted he deserved a booking for his behaviour at the end of Chelsea's 4-4 draw with Manchester City.

A furious Pochettino had to be restrained by members of his own coaching staff as he screamed at referee Anthony Taylor following Chelsea's thrilling draw with City.

Indeed, former City star Cole Palmer scored an injury-time equaliser from the penalty spot for the Londoners to ensure the spoils were settled.

However there was still plenty of time added after Palmer's late goal, with Taylor playing an extra three minutes beyond the original eight.

Nevertheless, when the referee did ultimately blow the final whistle in the 111th minute of the game, Pochettino was adamant the game should have gone on for longer.

At the whistle the Argentine marched towards Taylor, angrily gesturing at the referee while clearly shouting "What the f***".

Eventually, two members of his coaching staff caught up with their angry manager and pulled him away.

Pochettino continued to direct his rage at Taylor, who booked him for his protestations.

However, after the game the manager apologised for his behaviour, and admitted he deserved a booking.

As per Football.London, the former Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain boss said: "I need to apologise to Anthony and the officials because in this moment I feel Raheem can go through and in this moment I say ' What the f***?"

"I deserve to be booked, I apologise but this type of behaviour is no good.

"I want to apologise to him also [Pep Guardiola], I was focused on the action."

On the pitch, the Chelsea performance followed similarly encouraging displays against Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham.

Indeed, Sky Sports' Jamie Carragher claimed the club's improvement in big-games is down to Pochettino.

He said: "I think it shows how good City are.

"Because I don't think City were anywhere near their best and Chelsea were fantastic but it still finished 4-4. That shows the gulf between both teams.

"But what Pochettino has done in big games is fantastic. You can see him as a manager going up against Klopp, Guardiola, Arteta and he hasn't quite got the tools they've got. I know people will say they've spent a lot of money.

"It's still short of what the top teams have got. But what they've done in big games is a feather in the cap of the manager."
