Jose Mourinho could make sensational Premier League return after odds slashed on Special One taking top job

Jose Mourinho could make sensational Premier League return after odds slashed on Special One taking top job

Jose Mourinho could make a huge return to the Premier League

Odds have been slashed on Jose Mourinho making a sensational return to the Premier League.

Mourinho has been out of work since being sacked by Roma earlier this year and has regularly been linked with a return to the Premier League.

‘The Special One’ has been constantly courted by clubs in Saudi Arabia and reportedly held face-to-face talks with Turkish Super Lig side Fenerbahce earlier this month.

Mourinho has already admitted he is keen to find a new club ahead of the season. He told beIN SPORTS: "I’m not in a rest, I want to work.

“I want to work but I just don’t want to have the wrong decision. I have to wait for the right one, the one that motivates me. But if I could work tomorrow I would work tomorrow.”

Now, it appears Mourinho is closing in on a return to the Premier League with one of his former sides as odds have been slashed on a sensational return to Chelsea.

The London side are searching for a new manager after Mauricio Pochettino departed the club by mutual consent last week and Mourinho is now 3/1 via SkyBet, down from 20/1 just two days ago.

Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca remains the favourite to replace the Argentine but don’t be surprised to see Mourinho’s odds continue to plummet.

Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna is also believed to be high on Todd Boehly’s shortlist but Mourinho has overtaken him to sit second favourite to get the job.

Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim is also in the mix while Roberto De Zerbi and Thomas Frank remain outsiders.

Mourinho won the Premier League and League Cup during his last spell at Stamford Bridge back in 2015 but the relationship turned sour just one season later.

Chelsea lost nine of their opening 16 games which led to his departure via mutual consent.

Current odds for next Chelsea manager via Sky Bet

Enzo Maresca - 13/8

Jose Mourinho - 3/1

Kieran McKenna - 4/1

Ruben Amorim - 4/1

Roberto De Zerbi - 14/1

Thomas Frank - 20/1

Thomas Tuchel - 20/1

Brendan Rodgers - 25/1
