Enzo Marseca hinted that he may look to replace one of Chelsea’s starters in the summer of their performance against Aston Villa.

On Saturday, Aston Villa came from a goal down to beat Chelsea 2-1 courtesy of a Marco Asensio double, with both goals assisted by Marcus Rashford.

Chelsea took an early lead through Enzo Fernandez’s tap-in, only for Rashford’s substitution to completely change the game and see Villa claim an 89th minute winner.

At full-time Blues boss Maresca hinted that he will look to sign a new No.1, after Filip Jorgensen allowed Asensio's winner to squirm under his body.

Indeed, Jorgensen had replaced the error prone Robert Sanchez between the sticks just weeks earlier.

After the game Maresca declined to back Jorgensen long-term, admitting the 22-year-old was merely first choice in "this moment".

"The keeper position is very delicate," he told the BBC's Match of the Day.

"When they make a mistake it's clear for everyone. Unfortunately, Filip made a mistake.

“But in this moment, he's our keeper and we need to stay strong and continue to support each other."

Maresca added: "In some games, both our keepers have been brilliant, but as I said it's a delicate position."

The Blues have now dropped 15 points from winning positions this season, and 13 of these have come since Boxing Day.

Marseca added that the Villa loss was Chelsea’s worst defeat of the campaign.

He said via Sky Sports: "This is probably the toughest defeat of the season. Reason why is because the reaction from Brighton has been brilliant, but this moment is not enough.

"Our team is there. We tried Pedro down the wing and it worked very good. We are unlucky in this moment and we need to turn that.

"In this league you have to be clinical. The difference is in the box, we had chances we did not score."
