Marcus Rashford has been blasted by fans after they spot what he did before Trent Alexander-Arnold scored for Liverpool against Aston Villa on Wednesday night.

After two impressive camos in games against Spurs and Ipswich Town, Rashford was handed his first start since signing on loan from Manchester United in the January transfer window.

Liverpool went 1-0 up through the talismanic Mo Salah before Villa turned it around with goals from Youri Tielemans and Ollie Watkins at the end of the first half.

The Premier League leaders pulled level through Alexander-Arnold but plenty of fans attached blame to Rashford for his part in the goal.

In acres of space just after the hour mark, Alexander-Arnold struck an effort from the edge of the box. - yet Rashford was slammed for jogging back and not doing his defensive work by tracking the right-back.

Rashford was criticised for not putting a shift in defensively for United and many feel this latest moment it showed the club were right to offload him.

One fan said: "Rashford’s looked good today but there’s the downside of him, not tracking back, had time to mark Trent too

A second said: "Just look at Rashford not tracking back and giving Trent yards of space."

A third added: "Look at rashford strolling back, he could have marked trent and prevented the goal."

A fourth commented: "Not even surprised Rashford got pulled of the pitch after that Trent goal. That attitude he just showed their walking back is exactly why his utd career is over!"

A final user vented: "Hope yall watching Rashford as I am… Trent run past him to score while he was jogging back."

Incidentally, both Rashford and Alexander-Arnold were hooked shortly after the equaliser and their battle was ended early.

The spoils were shared at Villa Park, with Liverpool eight points clear at the top of the table having played a game more than second-placed Arsenal.

Villa, meanwhile, are ninth in the Premier League - four points behind fifth-placed Bournemouth and five behind Manchester City in fourth.
