A lip reading expert has revealed exactly what Donald Trump said to Cole Palmer and the Chelsea squad during their Club World Cup celebrations.

After producing a shock 3-0 win over Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup final, Chelsea celebrated with a trophy lift inside New Jersey's MetLife Stadium.

Club captain Reece James was joined by star player Palmer, who scored two goals during the match, as well as the rest of their Chelsea teammates.

But it wasn't just the Chelsea squad standing on stage for the trophy lift, as US President Trump decided to go off-script and take part in the trophy celebrations.

During the celebrations, the American politician was spotted speaking to several members of the Chelsea team, and now we know exactly what was said.

Speaking after the match, Palmer revealed that he was "a bit confused" about Trump's decision to stay on stage for the celebrations.

And, according to lip reading expert Nicola Hickling, this is clearly visible when the Chelsea star was on stage as she shared exactly what he said on behalf of OLBG.

As it became clear that Trump wasn't planning on leaving the stage, Palmer turned and asked: “Can you ask him to move this way?... wait, what’s going on?”

Meanwhile, as the POTUS made it clear that he wanted to join James in holding the trophy, the Chelsea captain assured: "I got this”

Before turning to teammate Robert Sanchez to admit: “It's actually heavy.”

Prompting a response from Trump who turned to the Chelsea goalkeeper to try and speed things along, saying: “What? Let’s go."

Sanchez, clearly realising that Trump wasn't going to budge, then decided to take matters into his own hands, confidently ushering his teammates to carry on, saying: “On the count of three, come on, come on.”

After the trophy lift, James revealed more details of what Trump had said to him and his Chelsea teammates during the trophy lift, echoing Palmer's confusion on why Trump remained on stage after handing over the trophy.

The England international said: "They told me that he was going to present the trophy and then exit the stage, and I thought that he was going to exit the stage, but he wanted to stay.

"He just congratulated me and the team for lifting the trophy and told us to enjoy the moment."
