Chelsea will make a move to sign one of Europe's most in-form strikers, according to reports, as the 'Argentine Alan Shearer' continues to shine under Liam Rosenior.

It was another busy summer transfer window for the Blues, who spent more than £280 million on a host of new arrivals, including Alejandro Garnacho, Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens and Jorrel Hato.

Estevao and Dario Essugo arrived at Stamford Bridge in pre-arranged moves, while Mamadou Sarr, Mike Penders and Kendry Paez also joined, but were soon sent on loan to Ligue 1 side Strasbourg.

Strasbourg and Chelsea are owned by BlueCo, a consortium led by Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali.

And to the surprise of some, both clubs are allowed to sell players to each other despite being in the same multi-club ownership portfolio. Step forward, the potential transfer of Joaquin Panichelli.

Panichelli has been nothing short of a revelation since joining Strasbourg in a €17 million (£14.9m) deal from Spanish outfit Alaves.

The 23-year-old striker currently tops the Ligue 1 scoring charts with nine goals in 12 games, and has even been compared to Alan Shearer by Strasbourg manager Liam Rosenior, who certainly knows a thing or two about English football.

“Panichelli is like the Argentine Alan Shearer," said Rosenior, as per TYC Sports.

"There aren’t many strikers like him anymore, so good inside the box. His heading tempo is incredible, he does it constantly in training. He’s magnificent, his start doesn’t surprise me."

As he continues to shine at the Stade de la Meinau, a report from Spain suggests Chelsea are considering signing him for next season. The Blues are said to value his goalscoring profile, as per Fichajes.

As mentioned above, Chelsea and Strasbourg are allowed to sell players to each other despite being in the same multi-club ownership portfolio.

That being said, Premier League rules state that any transfers between clubs in the same ownership group need to be assessed by the league first to ensure they represent fair market value, with auditors in place to assess the deal.

Joaquin Panichelli's agent speaks out amid transfer speculation

Chelsea are one of several clubs to be linked with a move for the in-form Argentine forward. AC Milan are also said to be keen, but Panichelli's agent, Martin Guastadisegno, has played down contact from the Italian giants.

Speaking to Milan Press, he said: "No news from Milan. I haven’t heard from anyone yet, despite having a great relationship with Furlani and Moncada. Have there been any contacts in recent weeks? None, but he’s a name Milan have known about and been following for some time.”
