Liam Rosenior has identified the 'ideal player to lead his midfield', according to reports, with Chelsea putting forward an offer worth €120 million (£104m) for the Real Madrid man.
It was confirmed last week that Liam Rosenior would take charge of Chelsea following a successful 18-month stint at Ligue 1 side Strasbourg.
He will work with some of the Premier League's top talent in the coming months, including Ecuador's Moises Caicedo, a player he recently called "the best midfielder in world football".
As well as Caicedo, Rosenior singled out Enzo Fernandez for praise. "What a fantastic player he is," the head coach said in an interview with TNT Sports.

But despite having one of the best midfield partnerships in the Premier League and beyond, a report from Spain has linked the Blues with a big-money move for Real Madrid's Federico Valverde.

In fact, Chelsea have expressed its 'firm intention' to sign Valverde by making a bid of €120 million for the Uruguay international, according to Fichajes, although it appears a deal will be tricky.
Madrid are in no hurry to negotiate. "The message is clear: only an unrealistic offer compels them to listen," the report says.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are aiming to send a strong message, with Rosenior's arrival being marked as a so-called 'turning point'.
Rosenior sees Valverde, who has made 25 appearances for Madrid this season, as a perfect fit for his midfield. "His profile fits an intense, direct style of play, and he has the ability to master different aspects of the game." the report adds.

John Terry wants Chelsea to back Liam Rosenior in the January transfer window
Despite spending around £285 million on new arrivals last summer, Terry is keen for his former club to give Rosenior some funds in January.

"Hopefully the board and the owners are going to back him and give him money to go in the transfer market and bring some players in." he said on TikTok.
"Hopefully things will settle down now and we can concentrate on the football."
Terry added: "Listen, like all Chelsea fans, whoever the manager is and has been over the years as well, Chelsea fans will always get behind their manager and we’ll look to do that on Wednesday.’
