Chelsea fans have been left outraged after a dig from former manager Graham Potter was picked up by a microphone in his West Ham press conference on Monday night.

For the first time since he was dismissed by the Blues, Potter returned to Stamford Bridge - bringing his Hammers side to west London for a Premier League clash.

The visitors took the lead at the end of the first half through talisman Jarrod Bowen but Chelsea turned things around in the second half with an equaliser Pedro Neto and an own goal from Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Chelsea moved above Manchester City into fourth place by two points with the win, with West Ham in 15th.

It was an unsuccessful return for Potter, who was sacked by Chelsea in April 2023. He was in the hot-seat for seven months after replacing Thomas Tuchel but won just 12 games out of 31 and was relieved of his duties, allowing Frank Lampard to return as interim boss for the final stretch of the season.

Potter spent a lengthy away from the game and after being linked with a number of vacancies, took the West Ham job after Julen Lopetegui's sacking.

When about to take part in his post-match press conference, microphones picked up Potter saying, "I don't miss being in here."

The former Brighton boss may well have intended on saying it under his breath but it was audible and plenty of Chelsea fans fumed as a result.

One fan on X said: "No one misses him being there either, funnily enough."

A second added: "News flash buddy. We don’t miss you too!"

A third commented: "We're literally happy you're not here."

A fourth user wrote: "The feeling is mutual."

A final person stated: "Trust me mate, it goes both ways."

Potter has taken charge of four games as West Ham manager, winning one, drawing one and losing two.

Reflecting on the game, he said: "We have to focus on what we did well and the spirit and performance. Our supporters appreciated the performance of the team. You need a bit of luck. We felt unfortunate with the lead-up to the first goal. It wasn't to be."

West Ham have moved to sign Evan Ferguson on loan from Brighton, while James Ward-Prowse has been recalled from a loan at Nottingham Forest in a bid to move the team up the table.
