Chelsea fans are accused of singing a controversial chant after Ryan Gravenberch received treatment for an injury.

Chelsea fans were heard singing a controversial chant while Ryan Gravenberch was receiving treatment following a poor challenge from Moises Caicedo in the Carabao Cup final.

The Ecuador international trod on the Liverpool midfielder in the first half at Wembley, with Gravenberch's foot planted and almost buckling in a sickening action.

Chris Kavanagh played an advantage and much to the anger of Jurgen Klopp, Caicedo was not even shown a yellow card for the tackle.

Gravenberch had to be stretchered off and was replaced by Joe Gomez after becoming the latest addition to the ever-growing injury list.

But according to journalists in the Wembley press box, some Chelsea supporters sang, "Always the victims, it's never your fault".

Both Ian Doyle and James Pearce reported that they heard the chant while Gravenberch was attended to.

The chant is deemed to be linked to the Hillsborough disaster in 1989 which claimed the lives of 97 Liverpool supporters.

At the start of the season the Premier League announced there would be heavier punishments for tragedy chanting but the "always the victim" chant was heard at Kenilworth Road when Luton hosted Liverpool.

On that occasion, former Reds defender Jamie Carragher condemned the chanting at half-time.

Speaking on Sky Sports, he said: "I just want to mention something, the start of the season was involved in something with supporters coming together about tragedy chanting.

"I just heard in a couple times during this game, you've got to have rivalry but we are better than that.

"Two or three times in game, a few minutes ago as well. All clubs been guilty of that over the years but world we live in right now we are better than that.'"
