Chelsea fans convinced last-gasp transfer is happening after spotting social media activity

Chelsea fans are convinced that the club could complete another transfer in the closing days of the window after spotting a player's social media activity.

The Blues beat Fulham 3-2 at Craven Cottage on Monday night to win their opening Premier League match of the season.

Though there were concerns defensively, and goalkeeper Robert Sanchez arguably could have done better to keep out both of Fulham's goals, there was encouragement in attack as Cole Palmer, Joao Pedro and new signing Morgan Rogers combined well.

Pedro opened the scoring for Chelsea in the first minute of the match via a Palmer assist, before Rogers made it 2-1 on 41 minutes to open his Blues account on debut.

Pedro and Palmer then combined again to make it 3-1, with Palmer this time getting the final touch for his first goal of the new Premier League season.

Gonzalo Garcia then made it 3-2 after Sanchez had parried an initial effort back into the danger zone.

But Chelsea held on for their first win under new manager Xabi Alonso, and could even have made it 4-2 in injury time when Pedro Neto's shot hit the side netting.

After the match, Rogers took to his Instagram page to post a photo of himself celebrating his debut goal, alongside the caption: "We backkkk."

Premier League star and Chelsea target comments on Morgan Rogers post

Rogers' Chelsea team-mates Palmer, Pedro, Reece James and Jordan Henderson all commented on the post, while there was also a reply from new Everton signing Brennan Johnson.

But there was also a comment from Bournemouth star Alex Scott, who left an exhaling face emoji in response.

Scott, 23, has been linked with a move to Chelsea throughout much of the summer transfer window.

The i Paper reported on Monday that Bournemouth had rejected three bids from Chelsea for the midfielder, believed to be worth in the region of £62 to £68 million.

Manchester United are also said to hold an interest in Scott, but the Cherries do not want to sell any of their key players ahead of their debut Europa League campaign this season.

And they would also have little time to source replacements if they did decide to sell ahead of the transfer window closing on September 1.

Scott played the full 90 minutes in Bournemouth's 2-1 defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

He is close friends with Rogers through their time rising through the England youth ranks, with Scott a year younger than the former Aston Villa forward.

But Chelsea fans are still holding out hope that, because of that friendship, the Blues can still get a deal done late on in the window.

"Future Chelsea player," one fan wrote in reply to Scott's comment on Rogers' post.

"Stay patient son, we are coming," another said.

"Come join your boys are waiting," a third wrote.

"Soon a Chelsea player after Enzo is gone," a fourth stated.
