Chelsea have issued a statement after Premier League debutant Jesse Derry was given oxygen and stretchered off following a sickening collision with Nottingham Forest defender Zach Abbott.
The 18-year-old winger, who is the son of former Crystal Palace midfielder Shaun Derry, was making his first senior start for the Blues on Sunday.
He made a solid impression in the opening 44 minutes of the contest but, after a serious clash of heads with Abbott that led to a penalty being awarded to Chelsea, his top-flight debut came to an unfortunate end.
After being given oxygen by medical staff during an eight-and-a-half-minute stoppage, Derry was given a standing ovation from the Stamford Bridge faithful as he was taken off on a stretcher.

On Monday afternoon, Chelsea confirmed that Derry is conscious, talking and undergoing precautionary checks. He was taken to Chelsea and Westminster Hospital during the game.
A statement from the club read: "Jesse Derry has been taken to hospital as a precaution following his first-half substitution during today’s Premier League game against Nottingham Forest."
It added: "Jesse is conscious, talking and undergoing precautionary checks. We wish him a speedy recovery and thank the medical staff for their swift response."]
Jesse's father Shaun, who was in attendance, was visibly upset after watching the scenes unfold, according to The Sun.

Speaking ahead of kick-off, Chelsea interim head coach Callum McFarlane was full of praise for Derry, who previously impressed in FA Cup cameos against Hull City and Wrexham.
"It’s a great opportunity for Jesse," McFarlane said. "He’s trained with us a lot, he’s been in the squad, he’s played in other games, so we trust him. We know his talent, and I’ve worked with him previously."
"The boys trust him, and he’s trained really well, so we’re really excited for Jesse," added McFarlane.
Thierry Henry shares first impression of Jesse Derry
With both Alejandro Garnacho and Pedro Neto missing from the squad, Derry was given the chance to shine. Thierry Henry, who was on punditry duty for Sky Sports, was excited to see him in action.
Speaking ahead of kick-off, Henry said: “By the look of him, he’s a tricky player, good on the ball. Hopefully he can score goals, create goals, then he can become the full package."
“Let’s see what he can do," the former Arsenal striker added. "It’s gonna be a good battle with Abbott.”
