Borussia Dortmund star's girlfriend forced to quickly DELETE Instagram post supporting him after fans spot problem

Borussia Dortmund star's girlfriend forced to quickly DELETE Instagram post supporting him after fans spot problem

Fans noticed a minor problem with the post.

The girlfriend of Borussia Dortmund star Yan Couto quickly deleted a social media post supporting him after fans noticed a problem.

Couto, a Brazil international, is currently spending the season on loan at Signal Iduna Park from Manchester City.

He has never played for City since signing from Brazilian side Coritiba in 2020, but has enjoyed loan spells at Braga and a successful three-year stint at Girona.

His form for Girona allowed him the opportunity to join Dortmund for this season, and he made his Champions League debut as a late substitute against Club Brugge.

The 22-year-old entered the action on 87 minutes - with his partner Mariana David posting a message of support on her Instagram story.

But minutes after it was posted, a Dortmund fan took to Twitter to claim that the photo she used from the live action was actually from a video game.

She wrote: "Even from afar, I'm always keeping my fingers crossed for you."

The screenshot itself, though, does appear extremely realistic - with Couto posting the same image to his own Instagram profile after the game had finished.

It is unclear, therefore, whether the screenshot was from a video game or from a different match involving the two sides - with Dortmund wearing a different kit on Wednesday to the one in the photo.

But following the claims made on Twitter, the post was then deleted from Instagram.

Dortmund eventually won the game 3-0, with former Manchester City academy star Jamie Bynoe-Gittens scoring twice off the bench.

The England youth international spent time at the academies of City, Reading and Chelsea as a youngster, but moved to Dortmund in 2022 in search of more guaranteed first team football.

Comparisons have inevitably been made between the 20-year-old and both Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham, who left English football at a young age in successful attempts to take their games to the next level at Dortmund.
