Andre Onana makes major howler to give Bayern Munich lead vs Man Utd, he looks gutted

It's a major blunder.

Manchester United keeper Andre Onana was responsible for a major blunder against Bayern Munich.

Erik ten Hag's side came into their Champions League group game encounter against Bayern Munich having just been humbled 3-1 against Brighton in the Premier League, while also contending with several injury and off-the-field issues.

Nevertheless, United's first half-hour of the game was encouraging, only for the Bavarian giants to go ahead in the 29th minute courtesy of a howler from goalkeeper Onana.

Having barely threatened, Harry Kane fed Leroy Sane who cut onto his left foot and unleashed a tepid strike at goal, lacking in any real power or precision.

But as Onana went to ground to gather the shot, it somehow squirmed through his body and into the net.

Onana, looked visibly shaken by the gaff, and minutes later was once again picking the ball out of his own net as Serge Gnabry latched onto a Jamal Musiala cut-back, and struck a low finish into the far corner.

Questions had be raised over Onana's shot-stopping ability before the Champions League match, given the goalkeeper had been beaten 10 times in his opening five games for United, with the club suffering three defeats in that time.

On the matter, however, Onana, who was bought from Inter Milan for £47.2million this summer with a reputation for being good with the ball at his feet, acknowledged that his first job has to be to keep it out of the net.

He said via Mail Online: "I don’t think I’m here because I'm good with my feet. First I have to save the goals, that’s why I’m here.

"The most important is the team, we are here to win. If the team needs me with my feet, I will be good with my feet. but it depends on the situation, a high block or a low block.

"Replacing David isn’t something easy. The start of the season is not what we want. It will come, I’m very confident. We all have to step up. We didn’t start well but I'm confident we’ll get it right. When I see how we’re working I’m confident and excited."
